Hey all, longtime reader, sometime poster here. First off I want to thank everyone for their amazing work and advice. I have done lots of drum-building with blank ordered shells, but I am starting to work on my FIRST RESTORATION! I am eventually making a small sized bop kit, but for now, I am working on the 16x16 bass, made out of a 60's Rogers Holiday red onyx floor tom. The floor tom was abandoned at a club I have a residency at, so I asked, and went home with it FREE! Now it wasn't much to look at as one of the leg mounts had broken off, and someones bright Idea on how to hold it in place was to wrap the shell of the drum all the way around like 20 times with duct tape. Needless to say, the wrap was completely trashed, but I could see the beautiful shell underneath was longing for a good home. Also, apart from the broken leg mount, the hardware is actually all in great shape, no pitting, just needs a good clean. SOOO long story short I've got the wrap and the glue(WHICH WAS A *****!!!) off the shell, and its not too bad. I think I'll probably fill the leg mount holes and but some new telescoping legs on him, but maybe I can just get one of those pearl floor tom conversion kits. I already have a bass drum lifter from my 18" premier bass. I'm thinking silver sparkle for the wrap(which I already have enough of), or maybe blue. Anyway looking for any pointers, ideas, feedback, anything you guys have. Here are the pictures. Thanks
