I got a great deal on this kit...Rogers Holiday 24-13-16, cob dyna, bunch of cymbals stands, and a matching Rogers R-360 16" floor tom.Looking forward to doing a thorough cleaning and polishing job. What I'm wondering is, what should I do with the R-360 tom? The wrap and fade match the others EXACTLY, so I thought I could use it's wrap as a donor to wrap another matching 16 for a real Buddy setup. OR, I could use it to wrap a fake wood dyna shell, and have a matching snare. If I did this than I could just keep my eyes out for a matching 16 on ebay, though I know that's a tough one with WMP.Hoping one of the buddy fans (Tommy?) will chime in here.
mlvibes!...
I usually abhor chiming in on a thread to restate what someone has already said... ( the practice gives me hives! ) ... but in this case I feel I must make an exception as my entire collection of Rogers drums are ALL in WMP... well, excepting COB where applicable of course!... and both my Rogers kits are Buddy Rich models... so I know the wrap very well. Having said that:
First off: NICE FIND!! They look excellent with a NICE creamy fade to them and not that hideous "smoker's tooth yellow". Because of this type fade, you will certainly be able to find a matching candidate eventually... the key word being eventually. When the time comes, you need to see the potential 2nd 16X16 in NATURAL LIGHT, NO FLASH, to compare it to your existing one. It can be done with great success! Until then,
Ploughman has it right, you should hang tight... clean... polish ... tune ... ENJOY!!! And YES!... the nicely matching wrap off the R-360 16X16 would make for an excellent clone of a Dynasonic. Now THAT would be slick!! NICE FIND!!! Got Rogers?!
