What's the shell construction on a late 60's Olympic drum? Thanks Rich.

+1 on fay ray's post.
I took the heads off a mid 60's Oly and the shells were perfect, not even a pinhole knot on the inner face ply.

As stated above - like the Premiers of the day. This means, that from the late sixties to mid/late-seventies, there are good chances they are african mahogany.
Even better than the birch ones in my opinion.

My Olympic kit is mahogany with beech re-rings. Great sounding kit. The lugs are a little fragile from the standpoint of potentially stripping from the mounting screw, but otherwise nice.
