60's? Beverly Bass & Tom

Loading...

Hey All:

Being one of the neighborhood musicians around here, folks are always giving me their unwanted/unneeded instruments. I make it a point to never say no. A few years ago I was given a couple of Beverly drums. Here are some pics. Any ideas about them?

Me either! I'm "what were they thinking?" Very Star Trek like. But again, very unique.

Crap! I forgot to post the Tom with the unique holder pics. Here they are with the Bass drum holder:

Those lugs are the standard Beverley lugs. Beverley shared the same shells (3 ply birch I think) as the vintage premier and olympic stuff, but all the Bev stuff I had or still have has those lugs - they're nice I think! The circular tom mount is the same as Olympic drums' too. I have the same tom holder - it was standard for Olympic single tom kits, but I've never seen it on Beverleys. My beverleys are later than yours and hade the 70's style premier tom mounts. Judging off the circular beverley badge on yours I'd certainly say these were 60's drums.

Nice sounding drums!

Tama Superstar, 22, 22, 16, 14, 13 Desert Burst
Premier Genista, 22, 16, 13, 12 Black Lacquer
Premier Genista, 20, 14, 10 and snare Black Lacquer
Premier Resonator 22, 16, 14, 13 poly creme/black
Zickos 22, 16, 14, 13, clear acrylic and snare

Thanks for the info Brody, I don't know how to tell wood very well but it sure looks like it could be birch. Not ever seeing a Beverly drum before it's been fun to research them. I'm thinking they need to find a home with someone who has a history with Beverlys and a lot more restoring time and experience than I do.

Honestly, with a new pair of hoops and a clean, those drums would scrub up nice. The legs are easy to find as they are the same as the vintage premier ones and come up on flea bay quite a lot. If you found a Beverley floor tom quite cheap, you could re-wrap and have a great sounding player's kit.

Thanks Brody, I just may have to do that. I guess I should get working on the "Beverly Floor Tom" wanted ad.
