6 lug Sling Snare

Loading...

Is this snare worth much more than 110? I did not realize it was a 6 lug, and bid, thinking it would make a really nice birtheday present for one of my favorite people....me. I know it is in really good shape, but I am now beginng to wonder, due to the seemingly fantastic condition, if it is a re-wrap. Anyway, if it's not worth much more, I thin k I am going to ask to be released. Any thoughts?

673 rapid. Appears to be a rewrap. If not, that's a steal. A bit over a hundred is not too much to pay for that if it's legit. I wish we had more pics. Looks pretty cool.

I was watching this one as well, I agree the wrap does look a bit too perfect, still a nice drum, I'd think $110 is a pretty good deal for it.

It's on the bay...parting it out, and it all looks too perfect. Nice, but if I am gonna buy a Sling for my birthday, I really think I would prefer an original, not a re-wrap for my first vintage Slingerland.

It matches the rest of the kit he is selling, all of the listings just say the wrap is vibrant with very little fading, he never says whether it is original or not. You might send him a message, he responded to a question I asked pretty quickly yesterday.

He did reply, although it was today, I asked yesterday. Anyway, he says the original owner, who got them new in 1967, took out of the house twice, in the 5th and 6th grades for talent contests, other than that, everything is supposed to be true to listing. Still, with the floor tom gone, I am passing an it, let someone who can afford all of them take tham all and keep them together. They are immaculate, in and out.

I picked up an original green glitter slingy 6 lugger a couple years ago, excellent shape, for 100 even. Nice brush drum.

yeah these drums had a beautiful sound. these are calledthe student model.

i have a '65 which has a wonderful nice warm fat tone. slingerland

made some great drums back in the day. even the stuff they made

before going belly up sounded great. there was a great club in nyc

called the knitting factory that had 3 house kits that destroyed

most of the kits that drummers would bring in. only kit that

i ever heard that sounded better was jeff tain watts designer sonors

which cost thousands more.

Yep, it's a Deluxe Student Model.

There is also an 8-lug with clips called the Student Model, that used to be called the Radio King Student Model, and another 6-lug with clips called the Special Student Model.

All have 3-ply shells and Rapid strainers, only the Deluxe has a tone control.
