6 Lug or 8 lug

O.K. I have a question for the Ludwig People.

I have a 13 X 5.5 6-ply LUDWIG Shell. No Holes. Yes that's right I said no holes. It's a cut away of a 13 X 9 79 Concert tom.

I'm thinking of drilling it out for lugs, throw off, butt plate, & tone control.

What would make it more sellable?? Making it a 6 lug snare, or a 8 lug???

8 would be an easier resale I think. Either way, it is a "custom: drum.

8 lug for sure. But you'll need to disclose it's a remake not original.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Hopefully this won't happen, but if you add up the value of the parts for the project, it may be more than you would be able to sell the drum for.

I have $300 in this one....far more than I could ever sell her for.....not that I would....too much sentimental value

Good luck with yours, hope it works out.

Actually I would be selling just the shell after it's been drilled. No hardware. I bought 2 Concert toms. A 13" and a 14". Took them both to a custom drum campany and cut them down to just a little under 5.5 for the 13" and 6.5 for the 14". Baring edges are done and I can get snare beds done also.

They both are Ludwig but yes I would disclose that they were Concert toms and they have been have cut down and customized.

It;s something I'm trying cause I see a lot of Concert toms for sale and they hardly ever sell. I figure I take 13", 14" and possibly 15" Concert toms and cut them down to snare shells, they would be a little more sellable. Right now I'm only doing 6-plys. I'd Like to try a 3-ply Concert shell. But I think It would be very hard to re-glue the re-ring into back into the cut shell. I know it can be done it's just I've never done it before.

Of course. It is a Ludwig shell. But yes I would disclose that it's was a Concert tom originally. I would drill it for all Ludwig hardware. I'm thinking 8 Jazz Festival Lugs, P-85, P32. Tone Control. And Reinstall the Original Badge.

Thanks !!

It's a Kent 1960s 13x9 tom shell I got from Backbeatkeeper

The wrap is a 70s custom order for Blaemire.... I acquired a couple of sheets through a buddy of Drumjinx.

All the hardware is modern stuff...
