5x13 Slingerland Black n Brass Chicago era...Questions

Loading...

Hello everyone,

I have a 5x13 Slingerland Snare from what I can tell would be the late fifites. I have been having a hard time digging up any information on it and figured this would be the place to ask. Thew shell is in great shape. only minor cracking in a few spots on the bottom, hopefully resotreable. The finish is a bit dirty but looks to have held up great. the lugs and hoop are free of scratches or defects. Again, a bit of cleaning would go along way. It does appear to be a three ply drum as well. I am wondering what the possible value of a completed and restored drum could be?

I haven't come across another one in the ten years i have had this shell. I am on the lookout for the bottom hoop, which I have no idea where i could get a replacement. I need the throw off lever as well, but through this site, i found a replacement. Anyway, if anyone knows anything about 5x13 slingerlands, please let me know. so far its a mystery.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Hi, your drum is a Super Gene Krupa Model #150

I've got the same drum, only mine has aluminum hardware:

Hi,

13" snare hoops will be a hunt for sure. In the meantime have a look at these;

THey're the old style, single flange, you'll need the clips too but at least you'll be able to hear and appreciate this awesome drum while you search for the correct hoop. Good luck

thanks everyone. I plan on putting some hoops on so i can play it, but i will be on the look out for the correct bottom hoop. I heard there is a Vintage Drum Show in Chicago. When does this usually take place? I have friends there and it would be a great trip to take.

thanks again
