5.5" George Way 6-lugs

Hi Folks,

I picked this one up from Ebay a couple of weeks ago.

It's my first George Way drum and as you can see, it's in great condition.

Great woodwork, the chrome is superb and the strainer works flawlessly.

The drum sounds very open and woody with lots of buzz.

Probably not a day to day snare but I do like it and absolutely usable in certain settings. Sounds killer with brushes.

All the lug-casings suffer from the notorious cracking and damages on the lug-insert-holes. To prevent permanent damage, I inserted thin washers, hoping for stress-relief and improved dispersion on the holes once under high tension.

Can somebody tell me which model this is and what would be its manufacturing date ?

Stedi - Man, those Oaklawn Camco shells and edges produce a beautiful tone don't they? I love the sound of my Oaklawn snare, FAT, warm, woody tone that just can't be beat.

Enjoy it for many years to come...

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Congrats Steff,

I may ask you to drop me some close up photos of the rims because I just got one too (in silver sparkle) but it looks like the illegimate person who sold it to me didn't mention the rims and tuning pegs weren't original (nor did they bother to answer when I asked them later).

Sounds good but the cast rims would make a huge difference, I suspect.

Not sure if it's a keeper or not, given the issues.

And nice idea with the washers.....
