50's/60's Gretsch Timbales

Loading...

Just got these shined up yesterday. They're brass shells, 10.5 and like 13.3 inches. They came with the original calf heads, which are in fine playable condition. I've always wanted a drum with the Gladstone-style split brackets, now I have to track down a cymbal arm.

They sound really cool, but I'm not so into calf heads so I'll probably eventually send these to Remo and have them make some custom-sized Ambassadors for them.

On these and any timbales calf make them sound a lot better than with plastic heads. Plastic heads causes them to ring a bit more than they should.
