hello - time to let my old set go... seeking input re value. wood (6-ply I think), cast rims, silver sparkle (+ gold sparkle on bass drum rims), round badge. bass is 15x21, fair amount of wear on rims, veneer on 1 rim is coming loose - about 3" worth, 2 extra holes (for tom holder it looks like). lg. tom 16x16. sm. tom 9x13. drums are solid, completely functional, but definitely plenty used. the metal rims have lots of visible marks (but they're not bent or anything). the inside finish is a kind of dull silver. thanks for any thoughts!

15x21" bass drum? Now, that's rare. Seriously though.......that bass drum is very likely a 14x22" diameter. Or, both of your measurements for the bass drum are wrong, and it's a 14x20 drum. The perspective of the picture of the set looks to me like you have a 20-13-16 configuration. The Gretsch gushers are a breed unto themselves. They will nit pick a used Gretsch drum set to death, and then low ball you on it's market value, and insist that it's worth twice as much when they try to flip it. As a vintage drum nut who is not particulary enamored of the mid 20th century Gretsch drums, I would estimate fair market value to be somewhere around $600-$700 for your three drums as they are.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I think you are correct on pricing. I have picked up similar Gretsch kits with more hardware and no extra holes and even a snare for $700.
