Im trying to decide if I want to keep my 5 ply BDP kit or not. It could use some work and what Im hoping the end result of that work could be is a quality sounding artifact of the 70's rock era. Does anybody have any idea what these drums would sound like if I trued up the bearing edges and put some remo CS black dots on them? I don't expect them to have a warm vintage sound, but if anybody has any comments on what is to be expected that would be appreciated. What Im hoping for is a wide open 70's rock sound out of these drums. Clear and focused is what I think these drums are capable of not warm and resonant like a thin shell.

Also: Did any players ever endorse these drums or are there any players that are associated with the 5-ply slingies. Kinda like how John Bonham is associated with the vistalite kit? Or are these drums pretty much duds--the product of an ailing company trying to compete with emerging trends in Japanese drums of the era?
