Hello Drum folks,
I have here the buy of the week
I answered a Craig's List ad for a "slightly dusty" five piece drum kit
with an asking price of only fifty dollars.
I pulled up the driveway and these were the drums
along with the dust that was mentioned in the ad ...but then all the rest too
I said "these drums are junk", because that was what they were
They had been down in that cellar just a tad too long
He asked "well are they worth anything"
I said "yes five bucks not fifty"
At the same time I started looking at them
and noticed the kit was made up of a combination of both Tama and Pearl
or some sort of knockoff components of the two
Note the Tama style bass drum mount receiver and double tom mounting arm
with the corresponding mounting brackets on the two deep very Tama-like mounted tom shells.
While the 10 lug bass drum has Pearl style folding spurs and all the drums are fitted with standard Pearl lugs
There is not one single component on any of the drums
that has not been affected by the long neglected life down in that cellar
I had never seen that combination of tama /pearl before ..and I am always game for a challenge drum-wise
Which is why I gave the guy the five bucks and loaded them up
I actually paid a total of ten bucks
But I figured the wall hanger saxophone he threw in was worth the extra fin ................Kenwood
