42 strand snare wires

A friend of mine has a 402 with emperor on top coated, and diplomat on bottom with 42 strand wire and the thing sounds just like Bonhams on Moby Dick and the early recordings this is the sound i am looking for I think I have read where Bonham used a 42 strand snare wire not sure though..

I've read that somewhere as well.....not 100% sure about it though....

BTW, the only way you'll get it "to sound like Bonham's" is to have Bonham play it....which might be a little difficult to do at the moment...:p

I've also read somewere that he was using a GRETSCH 42 strands
