I am looking for 4 of those extra long tension rods , that were used on 60's centre lug MIJ floor toms. ---7 ". I've exhausted my meagre supply.
4 -extra long tension rods needed
Is your floor tom Star or Pearl? If it's Pearl, you can use new 6" rods, if it is Star, you'll be waiting a long time. I'm in tbe same boat. (Unless you have a workable relationship with Mikey.)
Calf, I may have one....it's a Slingy torpedo knock-off if I remember right.
I can't look right now cuz I'm out the door to work....
I'll look tonight.
Send me a PM to help me remember....I'm old....:)

i guess it must be Star because the 6" don't catch. years ago , I did one of these and found some receiver nuts with an extended neck, which solved the problem but I'm out of those too.
When you say the 6" rods don't catch, do you mean that they are too big to screw down into the insert? If that is the case, then yes, it must be a Star drum. (The metric threading is slightly smaller than standard.) If the rod just spins around in the insert, then it could be a Pearl with a stripped insert.
And also, you're not trying to use a bass drum t-rod on it, right? 'Cause obviously those wouldn't work. (Just trying to cover all the bases.)
the rods just need to be close to 7" to thread into the receiver .
Best of luck on your search.
I haven't checked threads yet but I I will in the next day or so and get back to those of you who think you might have them. ---seems that they could be metric or 12-24.
