Hi, I just read on a webpage that Neil Peart's 3-Ply Artist Snare was a Poplar/Mahogany/Poplar Shell with Maple Reinforcing Rings! I also forgot to mention on my last post that someone from a music store had told me that Slingerland used Poplar for their 3-ply Shells during the 1970's and not Mahogany due to the shortage of supply from the Rainforests during this time period. It sounds like to me that some people need to get their facts straight when it comes to vintage Slingerland Shells. Phil Cormier Fitchburg, Mass 01420
