That is close srt, I can`t tell on those pics, but there should be a hint of blue in it. Like blue ice, kinda. But if all else fails, the BD is lay`n down and the toms are vertical !i

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Yeah guys.

I looked at that stuff.

It might do but the Sonor finish pattern looks like overlapping round cornered trapezoids, where as all the pearl finishes I find available have a triangular pattern.

Might not be too noticeable on a finished kit if I can get a good color match.

Have to wait till I get the drum and compare some wrap samples with the actual drum.

I think you should wait a few before doing anything with that 24" BD.

First....

...the good news:

The drum has arrived and it's BEAUTIFUL.

The only 2 non original holes in the shell are from the MIJ cymbal mount.

All the original parts are present and the chrome is very good.

Original reso head looks great.

Also good news...The wrap fell right off and is completely undamaged.

I guess the adhesive had nuthin left after all those years drying out.

Shell looks great although the edge is much rounder than my 20"(which I believe to be an earlier model and the new kick does not have a reinforcement ply on the bottom inside.

The number inside the shell is 212

Now for the bad news.

DAMAGE!!!!

The force of the hit was even enuf to flatten the side of the hoop on the head and leave a small dent in the outside of the bearing edge.

This was quite obviously dropped from a height of 6 or 8 feet onto something very solid.

THANX ALOT FEDEX!!!!!!

Luckily, I'm a "Drum Fixer Guy" with a shop so I should be able to repair all of this.

Overall, I'm still very pleased.

OK

So, an update to this.

I've been fighting my way thru Fedex managers for 6 months over this.

A little background:

I get this drum on ebay for a decent price.

Fedex charges me $200 TO SHIP IT AND SMASHES IT UP. tO THE POINT THAT A REPAIR/REPLACEMENT (IF i CAN FIND ONE) IS GONNA COST WHAT THE WHOLE DRUM COST. (sorry about yelling, lol)

Any way. This is all bad enuf but I says, suck it up. wadda ya gonna do against a "big company" like Fedex.

A couple of weeks later, a bill arrives from fedex to recoup customs charges on the drum.

NO FREAKIN WAY I says.

So 6 months of fighting later, I gets smart all of a sudden.

I gets on the net and finds out who the head of Fedex Canada is. The top woman. in charge of 6000 people.

So then I looks a bit more and finds a letter that she wrote congratulating someone for something.....and rite at the top is her letterhead, with email and direct phone #.

So I phones her up and voices my concerns.

!/2 hr later her personal secretary has me on the phone and says she's going to personally fix it all.

Within 3 days I had the customs charges credited, and the shipping charges refunded.

Moral of this long winded story........

....YES. You CAN win.........if you become a PITA to the "right" people.

T rods fixed ok. same for shell.

meh on the head. hard to fix that but wasn't gonna use it any way. just keep it.

The hoop is a write off.

I can get another chrome hoop but a 24" chrome teardrop hoop could take some time.
