24" or 26" bass drum?

I'm still not very shure what I'm going to take.

I'm just afraid that the 10"x14" tom above a 26 inch would be to high and not comfortable to play, when it's up so high.

I'm only 5'12", so ...?

What should I do???

I really have a dilemma...

My 20,16 kick is a sonic boom. The 26,14 is thunder. A tom mounted to the 26 wouldn't work for me 6'4". Just use snare stand as suggested. Think a tom on top of a 26 would not be very stable.

Nothing special here but I like them.

I'd call myself 6 feet tall and just go for it...

24" BD, and call it done. 4' - 24" tall is nothing to shake a stick at, but me thinks you're weighing this out too much. Just grab a 24, put the thing together and post some pics!

PS - Use a 12" or 13" rack tom. 14" toms are horrible. They're either dead and splimpfy, or awkwardly higher than you'd like. Your choice. Who even thought of the size? Blech! (Bonzo fans, c'mon and jump on. I don't care.)

I have searching and reading on the internet, and there are a lot of people (also famous drummers like Ian Paice, Buddy Rich, Carl Palmer, ...) that use a 24" bass drum for recording in the studio, because a 26" is too "Supersonic".

Is it true, that when u use a 26" bass drum in the studio, they have to put you in a desolated room from the others because of the loudness?

When I record with the band at my home "amateur studio". We always record the whole band together in one large room with some "acoustic screens".

Would that be a problem with a 26" bass drum?

I have bass drums from 20" up to 28" I play differently on different size bass drums. I prefer larger size bass drums over the smaller ones. It has not one thing to do with what one of the forum members posted sounds like jealously to me, !?LoLoLoLo Go big or go home !!! Just a little history lesson here Large bass drums where in voque WAY BEFORE small ones !!!! 28" and 26" that was the standard size, all the jazzers played the bigger size bass drum !
