22" Spizzichino Ka 2416g

Loading...

This is the best cymbal I've ever owned. Up for sale is my holy grail (sorry) Spizzichino Ka. You guys all know how rare and killing these Ka models are so I won't go on about it too much. I've run into some financial difficulties stemming from an injury in the fall which left me unable to gig or teach for a couple months (my only sources of income), and so this one is on the chopping block. If it doesn't sell I'll be okay with that! I don't hang on this forum the most, but I'm a regular longtime contributor on Cymbalholic and Drumforum. Shoot me an email at kevin_romain@hotmail.com for quickest response. Thanks guy!

This is a super balanced cymbal. Highs, lows, those beautiful Spizz mids, are all there in even proportions. It's not a "dark" cymbal - like the best of the Old Ks it's a musical instrument balanced across the full spectrum. The trash comes out when you shank it, but otherwise it's not a distinctively trashy cymbal over all - The highs are subtly "sizzly" but I wouldn't say this dominates the character of the cymbal. The stick sound is balanced between woody click and a more nasal "tah" or "ting", if you guys follow me. With a piece of tape on the bottom you can get very satisfyingly into TW territory without the unmusical overly trashy character of the turkish "TW" models available. Rich, musical bell.

I'm having some trouble with my DAW today so I'm unable to make a new soundfile but I'll do that as soon as I figure it out. In the meantime here's two videos that showcase the cymbal in context with the kit.

The first is recorded with an AKG c414 xls and you can see its placement in the video. No tape on the cymbal in this one. Vic First Peter Erskine ride sticks. There's some mucking around on the drums first, cymbal comes in around 1:13.

Second is just the sound from my Canon 7D onboard microphone, so a little more compressed but you can get an idea of the cymbal sound from out front. Two pieces of clear packing tape on the bottom.
