22" Made In Canada Zildjian Ride

Ive been away most of the summer discovering Norway but ive returned and went on a mission for a new(older) ride. Il post more detailed pics but i just wanted to share my score. I also got an 80s Acrolite with it for 300$CAD total. The cymbal doesnt have any cracks or keyholes and no hollow black stamp on the bottom like my Made In Canada Zildjian Hihats have. Im guessing that the Ride is a bit older than the Hihats in this case. Did i get a decent deal? Im kind of excited to have a couple MIC Zildjians because it seems like an interesting part of their history, even if it was brief. Thanks for any info you have!

In trying to find out a bit more about the Canadian made A's i found this.. http://www.activemusician.com/Zildjian-History--t2i193 is this accurate? I just like how it had more details of opening the AZCO factory and a bit more in the time line than other historical time lines i saw while doing searches. Im going to go over the info that ppl have posted on here again to see if i find out more. I guess i was just trying to figure out the difference in age between a set of MIC hihats that i have with a hollow black logo and the 22inch ride i bought without the black logo. It seems it would be only within a few years if most of the Zildjians were made in NB between (76)79-81(ish) unless my older one was one of the cymbals made by AZCO but still were stamped A's. I didnt know that they were making K's there too untill i saw a youtube vid from boston of a set of MIC K hihats. This is super interesting to me so any more info would be great! I read through the posts on here and saw that one of you at least have toured the factory that info was helpful, thanks!

I've had several Canadian A's (or...as I like to call them....

Canadian Eh's !!!!!!!!)

Falling Do electricit Falling Do

.......hawhawhaw...ooooooh....sometimes I just KILL myself !!!!!!

Toilet

They were pretty decent...not the best A's I ever played, but certainly as good as any 80's vintage one. The ones I have had were on the medium-to-heavy side.

How much does that 20" weigh ? It's not a bad price at all if it is medium or lighter.

You have done some good research...you have it all pretty accurately.

If you are into the Canadian plant history...I might suggest you pick up a few AZCOs just for kicks. I always assumed they were sorta bad...but actually....they are kinda cool cymbals.

HARHAR Well im excited because im going to Halifax to play a festival soon and well be driving through NB right by the Meductic factory so hopefully i can pop in and see where it all goes down, or went down for Zildjian at least....this guy doesnt have his info correct lol http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-musical-instruments-drums-percussion-ZILDJIAN-VINTAGE-20-PING-RIDE-1960S-MADE-IN-CANADA-W0QQAdIdZ206130101 you can see the hollow logo on the bottom, very faintly though. That 20" is a medium so i hope its not too pingy, i want to be able to lay into it like a crash/ride.

I bought the 20" and it sounds great! Great shape too, no keyholes or cracks and only minor nicks and scratches.. Its not too heavy so il be able to lay into it too. Now i have the 20", a 22" and 13" hats all made in canada..along with a 50s A from the states...things are looking up for me now that i dont have to mix n match with my run of the mill sabians!

MbbW - Very cool! I have quite a collection of MIC A's. It's funny how it works out, you look for something and it's difficult to find, then when you stop looking, tons of them fall in your lap. I have about 15 or so in various sizes including 3 sets of hats and I love them all!

Whoa nice! Id love to see pics of them...all of them! haha if you do have some pics post a couple if you can. So do you have some with the hollow black logo and some without? My 22" seems a bit older and doesnt have the logo so id love to see some more without.

On the way this week by mail, sent within the province. Theyre in really nice shape and i got them for 100$..ok deal? I dont mind paying that much especially now that theyll go with my other MIC cymbals...my collection is growing! I had my eyes on a 22" Zildjian "Pang" for 120$. Is this a rare(r) type of cymbal for the 70s? It has no hollow logo on the bottom. I havent seen any of this type that was MIC.
