Happy New Year gents. I'm here to ask the pros. This snare is on loan. Just got it yesterday and I'm going to record with it tomorrow. If it sounds as good as I think it will...how much should I offer the guy to keep it?

As you can see, it's a players drum with that somewhat hideous looking but functional throw off. Pretty sure those are not the original hoops, and definitely non-original snares.

I've had my six lug which I dearly dig and use all the time. The 8 is the one I've coveted for a while now and it just dropped in my lap.

Of course I'm looking for a deal, but was wondering what offer would be reasonable. I think it will clean up to look nicer that these pictures. Thanks.

this all metal model is a killer snare drum. It will clean up probably very nice, try offering 300.00 see how that goes that is a very fair offer.

Sounds good. Considering the rarity of these in even decent shape I think $300 is a pretty good deal. Don't these fetch $1000 if original and in A-1 condition?

It looks all there except the throw. Shell and hoops look COB.

It can be brought to pretty good condition, and was about $40 brand new. Don`t pay more than $300 for it and fill the extra hole/`s with lead and a ballpeen hammer and wipe away extra lead with clean cloths. It`ll look great and sound the same.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

No not the 8 lug 5x14" model's they don't fetch 1k. those are the 10 lug models and the 6 1/2x14" that bring 1k

OK great. I was also wondering about the extra holes figuring they might have accommodated a muffler, but I don't recall these shell coming with one.

What are they doing there?

Looks like the tension rods are not the originals, and it looks

Like the tube lug just left of the ludwig is cracked.

I have this exact drum and I can tell you that you will not be disappointed .

Good eye. I don't think the rods are original either. I checked the tube lug and you're right, it's cracked. Holds tension still but something to keep an eye on for sure. Thanks for pointing that out.

I have a Earthtone on my 6 lug and it made a huge difference. Good idea EDL.
