1980s Yamaha Recording Custom Value?

Loading...

I picked this 1980s Yamaha Recording Custom kit a while back. I'm thinking about selling, although I REALLY like how it sounds. Anyhow, sizes are 22x14, 13x12 (not pictured, but I have it), 12x10, and 16x16 in stage white finish. I know it's the dreaded power sizes, but they really do sound great--I get that awesome Gadd-esque 80s sound, which can be great in some applications. All shells have no extra holes. Finish is in pretty good shape. I have only a single tom post, and the toms are pre-YESS mounts. What's a ballpark figure on value? Thanks!

Bentley's drum shop has a RC set like yours in black asking 1499.00.

I would think yours would sell in that price range. They are still great drums~

Serendipity. I just sold the same sized kit as the Bentley's in early Yamahas (a mix of RA and RC shells - the RA's were pre RC) after posting them on eBay just last night. Someone called me and made an offer. I got $1250 which I'm happy with. These were quite worn on some drums, but still looked good. They were an ex hire kit. I was quoted $200 to repair the hoops, which had a valley from all the bass drum pedals! I filled them myself and my local smash repairer (who also plays drums) sprayed them in black duco, for a bottle of wine. They came up great. This kit was trashed when I got it. But Yamaha and Sakae quality meant when I took them apart, there wasn't a single hardware issue at all. Rock solid. I knew they would sell. A great kit. I only sold them to pay for a Sakae set, due in October.
