I've searched hi and lo and can't seem to find any original price lists for 1980's Yamaha drums.
I'm specifically looking for the original price of my 1982/83 Yamaha Series 9000 (recording custom) set.
Just curiosity. I bought it new but have ZERO recollection of what it cost back in early 1983. :)
Well since I came up empty, I dove into the REALLY old receipts and found gold!
I found the original 3-30-83 recipient for the four piece shell pack. $1074.00. That's $2,766.64 in 2019 dollars. Sweetwater has the current RC 4 piece shell pack going for $3,699.99. So it looks like new Yamaha Recording Custom drums are about 34% more expensive than they were 36 years ago, adjusted for inflation. :)
The Tama Mastercraft Steel 14x6.5" snare bought about a year later was $162.00
