MAN! You have a BEAUTIFUL drum stixofire. I don't collect drums now but maybe I should reconsider after seeing what you paid for that snare. I have really been enjoying just restoreing the drums I have now. I have only made one try at bidding on E-Bay and won the bidding on the first try.In contradiction to bidding for items, I feel the same as O-LUGS about ebay and feel that If sellers want to list items as "buy it now" and if anyone wants THAT item for that price(which is their reserve) everyone is happy and all the "cutthroat" bidding would be left out of the equasion. If items do not sell then, the seller will have to lower his price. BUT, I sure do admire THAT BOWTIE SNARE of yours and congradulate you on aquiring it. Like in my previous post I will be getting some more info on these snare drums and will share any new info with everyone.TMTM Everydays an adventure

Hey TM! Was just playing it today...Killer!

Yeah...I agree about eBay. Not only that, but all the "Shill" bidding that goes on...By the way, that drum, just moments ago, went for $295.00. Yikes!!!

I'll keep poking around for more info on this drum as well

Keep it Funky!

Well! After days of frustration I have not found any definitive answers as to this Large Keystone, no serial #, 6.5 X 14 Supra/Acrolite? Chicago ludwig U.S.A. snare drum. I did find that the anniversary set of Ludwigs I have were made in Chicago before the move to the monroe N.C. factory. After finding the 11pc set in the 75th Anniversary Ludwig catalog(pg.17 Phaser eleven drums but with keystone badges) I looked thru a lot of other catalogs and the only drum that even comes close to my snare would be an acrolite snare with 10 lugs and crome plating on the body but is a 6.5 X14" drum. I do know that all the parts for this drum are U.S.A. parts. The answers & opinions from the other drum forms are, these snares (without numbers) were special ordered, who knows? Also on the regular drummer world forum one reply said only a hundred of these snares were made for the NYC School system. But the facts speak for themselves,I ordered this snare with the 11pc. set on Sept.21,1984 and assumed it would be a supraphonic snare, how It recieved the large bowtie lugs without the #s will remain a mystery. The other forums do say that there are a few of these same drums that have been seen at a few music stores but these snares are not common snares. Ludwig had a lot of transition or confusing periods and some anomallys occured. This may only be one anomally but I feel these snares will become collector snares when they become older. Does anyone else have info for these snares? TMTM

I'm sorry I can't help you on this one. I only go to about 1975 with Ludwig. After that, I don't know what they did. Actually, my one Supra is a '79 and it's....a Supra...like most other Supras -great!
