1980 pearl fiberglass shell drum kit

Loading...

They're the most UNDER valued of the vintage Japanese sets.. They can sound awesome.. I have a double 24" bass (unwrapped) project set here.. Not sure what I'm going to do with them, though. I also have fond memories, I had a black Pearl Fiberglass 8 pc set. 10/12/13/14/16/18/24 with a 6.5x14 COB snare. They were loud muthas. Fiberglass is the best alternative material to wood shells available, soundwise, in my opinion.

From JJ's

thanks i purchased them in 1980 they were chrome. Do you have a fiberglass shell kit.

I don't have a fibreglass kit. I have always fancied one, but never bought one. I always saw them in chrome and the rare metal finish (like what Peter Criss had) that I can't quite describe. Peter Criss made me want a fibreglass Pearl kit BADLY.

I hate to say it, but you kinda lunched the value of the kit by re-wrapping it (unless the wrap was HIDEOUS, as in wrecked beyond repair). Jonni's right- $450 is probably every dime. If it were me- I would just play the crud out of them, and if you want to re-sell, re-wrap in chrome.

Again- I am one envious rabbit here.

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

The Music Go Round store in Kenosha, WI has a set of Pearl fiberglass for $99. It was just a kick a 3 piece though. I think it was 13/16/22, but the toms may have been larger.
