1974 Paiste Id Help

Loading...

Hi, I have got a Paiste cymbal serial number 401562. The serial number has no other writing around it. The Paiste logo is stamped on the cymbal about 3inches from the bell.

Any help in finding out what series it is would be appreciated.

Going to need pictures to be sure. Main series in 1974 would be Giant Beat, 2oo2 and Formula 602. All share the same serial numbering system.

My guess is it is Giant Beat if it has the Paiste stamp with shooting star only. The stamp should be at 3 o'clock on the cymbal for crashes and rides. Some hats had the stamp at 12 o'clock.

thanks for the info. having trouble uploading pics at the minute. the shooting star is at 3 o clock, so i take it is a giant beat, it looks like it has a high copper content. thanks again, .

Yeah, its a GB first generation for sure. B8 alloy. Very nice cymbal - Bonham's favorite....what size if you don't mind me asking?

hi again, i have put this cymbal on ebay as i am emigrating and forgot to put some items in the container, two cymbals included. had an email from a guy who reckons its a 602, but i thought the 602 a stamp on them, also, just checked the time line for giant beats and it says they were discontinued in 1971. which would then mean that the first digit of the serial number 4 isnt 1974. help again would be greatfully received.
