1973 Rogers Pacific Blue 22/12/13/16/18

Loading...

Hey Guys,

I hate these posts as much as the next guy, but I have been looking all over the net and I cant seem to find anyone who has sold a kit like this.

I am looking to sell this 73 Rogers Pacific Blue kit 22/12/13/16/18 and I want to know what a ballpark fair price is. It is in great shape, no seam lifting, no missing pieces, great chrome. Unfortunately, no Powertone or hardware other than the tom mount, spurs, and floor tom legs.

The only issue is that one of the bass drum mounts has a reinforcement block behind it (inside the shell) because (my best guess would be that) some bass player jumped on the kick drum at one time and so the leg mount has cracking around it. With the collet plate on you cant see from the outside that there is any issue, and functionally it is just fine...but you can see on the inside that there is a block of wood added in as a reinforcement. No extra holes in the shell.

I don't have pictures just yet, but any help on what a ballpark fair price to ask would be much appreciated. Other than the spur reinforcement thing, the kit is in great shape. I would say 8 out of 10. 9/72 (A) tags inside all drums.

Thanks, and sorry to post one of these "whats it worth" threads. Not normally my bag.

Nice drums, good sizes, are they traditional sizes and double headed? If so I would think the only thing that would bring the value down is the wrap, traditional pearls and sparkles would bring a little more IMO,I would venture a guess of 600.00 to 800.00.

I don't know if 18 ft's are bringing that, and on the right day on e bay maybe you would get that or more if someone really wants it,but if they are I would sell it and see if you could get another 600.00 plus for the rest of the kit.Sometimes rare = desirable, sometimes not.

This is sweet, I get to quote the Ploughman.

"We need to see pictures of the set for pricing"

Not a direct quote.

Definite on the pics.

Two things. the bass drum is broken. Not a desireable color.

You have some nice parts, but thats about it.

Maybe.

Pretty negative stuff there P-Man. Parts? Maybe? Pics would be coming up, but obviously people think the kit sucks anyway so whats the point? Thanks for the help guys. Hmmmm-Adam

I do not see any posts that state the kit "sucks" on this thread. For an accurate price, pictures need to be posted. The color and time frame are not in the valuable catagory. The issues with the bass drum are another strike. That does not mean the kit "sucks" or does not have value. I like the sizes of your set and I bet a Rogers fan out there would be interested.

I am not trying to be negative. But as it stands, without a viable bass drum, you have a collection of parts the sum of which are more valuable than the kit as a whole. Thats realistic. You desired a REAL answer. I gave the closest approximation to that given the information at hand.

My first drumset I owned is a Rogers, which I still have. Top of the line when I bought them used in 1979. But they arent worth a whole lot to anyone but me. I will keep them. In a couple years or five I may even shell out the 500 bucks it will take to rewrap them, since the 1977 Silver metallic that is on them is fatigued and showing stress cracks. My chrome is excellent. They were always taken care of, never abused. The parts themselves would possibly be worth more than the drums. And I would be stupid to expect someone to pay top dollar for them. Even after a rewrap.

I think "sucks" is a fair adjective to use to describe the idea that this kit is somehow only "maybe" good for parts. To a hard nosed collector sure, but I know a lot of people out there still seek out Rogers drums solely because they sound awesome for playing music on.Obviously I am not looking to get top notch collector price for this thing. I don't look at it and see top hats and canes....Im just asking what a fair price for this players kit might be. Sure it has a minor structural issue on the kick, but it is in no way "unviable" to someone who wants to own and rock the crap out of a great sounding (and looking) vintage Rogers kit with cool sizes.I know people want pics, but I just don't have them yet. Sorry. Im dealing with other stuff right now. If that means you don't want to comment on this topic then fine. No hard feelings. Parting it out/keeping it and re wrapping it/etc etc are not options for me. Im surprised that parting out a complete, great sounding, and perfectly poundable Rogers script kit for more "profit" is something people would even hint at as an option on here.-Adam

Without all the info, eamesuser put a range of $600-$800. You did not like that price. Again, without all the info, I do not see your kit going higher than that. Cleveland/Dayton kits in better finishes, without the bass drum problems are in the $1000-$1800 range. What do you think your kit is worth? Again, I like your drum sizes and a Rogers fan would be interested. I hope you get the price that is in your mind for your set.

What the heck happened here? I read this right, didn't I? I will be so glad when these threads are gone. There is no way to make it work, evidently.
