1971 Gretsch SSB Tony Williams

A 1973 Gretsch SSB 18/12/14 Bop Kit in TW Yellow Nitron. 100% all original all the way down to the CS black dot heads & ugly metal bass drum hoops correct for that period.

This is my only Gretsch kit in my collection, I keep the tone control knobs facing out as a tribute to the Master.

Stunning. One of the kits and color I've always wanted, despite the ugly metal BD hoops.DOH

Super sweet.

Did Gretsch market these as Tony Williams in any way back in the day?

To answer your question; Yes & no... Gretsch did so in a very low tone way... in the drum catalog for a few years (1971 to 1981) the yellow nitron was referred to as TW YELLOW but, I can't found any reference to this relationship with any advertising other then what was seen when ordering your drum color.

Fibes called it "Lifetime yellow".
