1971 Acrolite with Engraved Serial Number Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Oops ... I misread the date on the inside of the drum and it's really a 1970 drum. Can a Moderator change the Title date to 1970?

I just picked up a June 19, 1970 Acrolite with a hand engraved 4 digit serial number . It came with the original heads/wires, original case, stand, a dozen rudiment books and some sticks. I bought it from the original owner and they even gave me the original sales receipt. The serial number is also listed on the receipt.

This is one of the cleanest Acrolites I've seen. Eye Ball There are no scratches in the shell and the chrome is spotless. Based on the batter head wear, it was definitely used. The owner did a great job taking care of this drum.

I'll get pictures posted soon. Let me know if anyone's interested in any additional information for documentation purposes.

Here are some pictures after the cleaning. I'm almost afraid to take this snare out of the case!

This drum has the Ludwig script butt-end and a P-85 strainer. There is 1 washer between the outside of the shell and each of the the strainer mount machine screws, which allows the bottom of the strainer to clear the hoop when the snares are dis-engaged.

I'm keeping the original heads and wires, but I installed an Evans Power Center Reverse Dot, a Hazy 300 and some Puresound Custom Pro 20 wires. For now the batter head is set high (Drumdial - 90) and the resonant head is set medium (Drumdial - 75), which produces a nice quick crack.

Nice score, and I did see this but I was crazy with the SBP kit. I tell you that guy was so hard to get a hold of, and to get to buy it 3 days later? nuts! Hay by the way, need any vintage bass drum blankets?
