1970's SupraPhonic 402

Hey, guys fist time poster here and realitively new member. I know this is the place to be for answers. Wondering if you could let me know about this Supra. I'm thinking about bidding on this and would like to get some additional information but the seller doesn't know. First off, I'm placing this at around the late 70's vintage based off of the serial number please correct me if I am wrong. Also, the seller states 15lbs with packaging material so I assuming it is a "Ludalloy" shell as, again, I am assuming that the bass would be heavier. Actually, I am not even sure if Ludwig made the Supra in time frame in brass. There aren't alot of pictures and I am sorry for that I asked the seller but haven't recieved them yet.

Let me know what you think and the range of costs that you think this would sell for and alos if there is anything that just doesn't add up from what you see. Thanks in advance for all your help. This link is below.

You are correct. On the home page you will see a little article created to help answer some of those questions..

His shipping weight in my opinion is high... Unless he is calculating dimensional weight and not actaul weight, but I doubt it...

A mint Supra can go for between $200 and $350

This one with the pitting, missing tension rod and who knows what else with the limited pictures will probably go for between $150 and $175...

This drum is 6.5" deep, making it a Bonham snare. These have skyrocketed in recent years, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if this one reaches $400, even in the condition it's in.

I must be missing something he has it at 5.75". I thought he was measuring the drum with the hoops.

If it is the deeper version then mlvibes is correct...

Hey mlvibes are you a vibes player???

I have a nice set of Premier Vibes and used to love playing them...

Thanks for all your input. I really believe that it is a 6.5 becasue if you look at the throw-off the lever doesn't come up as high as the hoops like on the 5.5.

Anyway, I persuaded the seller to end the auction early and ended up getting the thing for $250 plus shipping. Not too bad.

Thanks again.

Yes, vibes are my main instrument! Premier made some great vibraphones...is yours A=440 or A=442? Do you still play them?

Nope, it has been about 10 years for me, some day maybe, they are one of my favorite instruments...

Good question on the A, I do not have the answer.

I traded a BDP Ludwig set with a WMP Radio King for the vibes.... The Ludwigs were in fair condition, but the Radio King was nice.
