1970's Slingerland BeBop

Loading...

Hi guys. I'm new to your forum. Visited lots of times, but never participated.

Well, I just acquired a set Of !970's Slingerland drums and I thought I'd like to share some pics with you.

They are 12, 14 and 18 bass in maple.

I don't think I have ever seen a set of these. If any one has any info to the model name and year of production that would be great.

GREAT looking kit!

Slingerland offered the Maple finish on its kits from 1976 - 1986.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a kit model that offered the 18 inch bass drum. Perhaps a "special order"?

Very nice kit. Dig the flame maple pattern on the bass drum!

You'll be a lot happier with a single set-o-matic tom mount. You'll be able to position that tom a lot better.

Thanks for posting those pics!

Killer set! The 1976 catalog shows the Modern Jazz outfit No. 9N with a 20" bass (and 12 and 14" toms) but offers an 18" or 22" bass drum at "no extra charge".

I use the double mount for a single tom. I actually think the positioning of one tom is more flexible with that "stubby" are than with the single one.

The single one puts the tom too far out to the left and has a smaller tilting angle.

I wouldn't spend the $ for a single arm, unless you wanted your set to look like the one in the catalog.

If you ever plan on selling that set, let me know!

Thanks for all the comments and advice. I'll use the double holder and see how it feels.

I must admit it would look more in keeping with the kit to have a single.

Has anybody any idea what they may be worth?

I paid $480.00 for them!!!!!

Good....bad?????????

Thanks again guys
