1970's Rogers Drum Set?

Loading...

Hey guys I have a full Rogers drum set but I am not exactly sure what era it is from or what it is potentially worth. I bought them from a guy about 8 years ago when I thought I was going to start playing drums and really haven't touched them much since. As of right now I am looking to possibly sell them but I kind of want to know what I can except to get for them. Honestly, I really know nothing about drums so I really don't know what I have. If you guys could help me identify my drums era and their possible price range it would be greatly appreciated. a picture of the drums is at http://s213.photobucket.com/albums/cc270/kyleking32/?action=view¤t=100_1533a.jpg

Let me know what you guys think.

Big R Fullerton drums, 1975-77 most likely, judging by the shell composition, 5 ply with reinforcing rings, speckled gray interiors, Swivomatic cast Floor tom mounts and hex legs. Color is KOA, Snare drum appears to be a SuperTen, Chrome over Steel 5x14.

They are totally worthless, send them to me.

Together as a set, you might see 500.00-700.00 with everything. But then, every day is a new days adventure on ebay.

Along with this set I have 3 cymbals...two I believe are zildjian (hollow logo) crash cymbals measuring 16 and 18 inches in diameter. The third is a 22 inch ride. I can't find any markings on it so I am not very sure who it is made by...its a thick (1mm+) sturdy bastard...ball park value on these or a guess on who ride is made by?

All 3 displayed:

Kyle,

I have the exact same set as you. I bought mine back in April of '06 for $550.00 ($150.00 was the shipping cost, the drums were shipped in their cases from Georgia to California) along with vintage 1976 Paiste Sound Edge hi hats, 20 inch ride and 18 inch crash ( the crash had a crack on the edge, and I stamped it out at work and it still sings) Mine didn't come with a snare, but I since have found 2 Dynasonics from the same era. Nice Find on the kit and Ploughman, great sense of humor! Love that totally worthless comment!

No markings at all? Lathing on the 22 looks Zildjian. I don't think Paiste ever made a cymbal without a stamp. Looks like B20 too so it could be Italian . . .

Thanks for your input guys. backbeatkeeper I do have a question for you...

when you said:

"I bought mine back in April of '06 for $550.00 ($150.00 was the shipping cost"...

Did the $550 include shipping or did you spend $700 after shipping? and that didn't include a snare? How much did you spend on your Dynasonic snare?

And one last question for everyone...Would I be pricing my drums too high if I were to try to sell them for $1000-1200 for the full kit and cymbals?

Thanks,

Kyle King

I checked my records and it was $405.00 for the drums and $150.00 for shipping. The seller said he lost out on the shipping part, but that seemed a bit steep for the kit, but they were shipped in the cases. They weren't in the best condition (cases) but the were packed well in the cases and the drums are in very good condition. As far as pricing goes, whatever the buyer who wants them bad enough is willing to pay. These are my "guesstimates" Drums w/out snare 400-600, snare alone 200-275. Cymbals as a set, Crashes individually, 16"-$125-$150, 18"-$150-$175, Ride (if Zildjian) $200-$300. Purists, which I agree with, say sell the set as a whole. You may not get as much, but it's sold as a whole, which makes us drummers happy. You can bastardize it out and might make more, but the family will be broken up and that makes for a whole lot of unhappy drums who will not grow up with their siblings, lol............

Way high for that set. Good drums, after all they're Rogers, but that set isn't that sought after. I see these and butcher block sets for 500.00 on ebay and not selling.

I disagree with you musicbybj, Rogers drums are going up all over the board, it's only a matter of time that Butcher Block comes back in fashion, everything is cyclical IMHO. Any price can be put up there, but as I said, if someone has the cash and desire, he may get his price. And as far as my set goes, I think I got a good deal for drums, cymbals and cases......

Yes, I, too, think it's a good price for the drums, cymbals Memriloc stands and fibre cases...plus, butcher block is a currently well-hated finish...which means it WILL come back in vogue again!
