Here is the pointy badge 1970’s Ludwig Super Sensitive Black Beauty I picked up recently. Badge #1993XXX.

I put a new 2 ply Aquarian head and a Remo Diplomat head on it until the Ludwig X-thin reso head arrives. I put new Ludwig Snare wires on it also. I have had a few COB and NOB drums and usually use the Genera Extra dry head with the little holes. I went with a 2 ply head since that is what I had sitting around. I still try a single ply at some point.

This is my first SS and my first BB.

This drum sounds fantastic. It is even better than I expected.

This is a heavy drum even without the SS mechanism. The chrome has some minor pitting and the finish is in decent shape but has some blemishes. Inside the interior lip it lools like it might be bronze instead of brass. Maybe someone else can provide some insight.
