Cool drum!
Hard to tell from the pic, but has it got the "transition" badge from 1970?
A la Dr C J W's article on Slingy badges. If so what is the serial#?
I've got one the same serial# 4304,they could be soul brothers!

The 5.5 is a transition badge .... no 1210, brother
Sweet drum. How do ya like playing her? Pretty cool range! Those drums are amazing. You did a really good job putting it right.
Kinda ringy....
I know, I haven't experimented enough to make a general statement like that.
I seem to take the short route to Moongel to fix what I hear as too much ring.
How do you set yours' up Mcjnic?
Love 'ya man!

Puresound Snares made for this snare
I tension the heads for comfort and the snares so they breathe.
I tried thinner heads and thicker heads. Heck, you know me. I tried so many freekin' combos...
These just seem to blend well for this drum. I also tried five different snares. The Puresound do it perfectly.
For the record, I'm not sold on all Puresound snares. Some are good, some just don't cut the mustard. I've had good and bad for specific snares.
Right back at ya!
Anyway, this snare really has a great feel. It can be fat (as opposed to 'phat'.....geeks!) for that laid back deep pocket. It can pop. It can really slam. It has a wonderful cross stick. The rim hit will stop you in your tracks.
Cool snares.
Thank-you my friend, I will try your combo and see if it moves me.
