1968 Ludwig Strata General Question

Loading...

At the bottom of the 1968 Catalog section on the new VDF Ludwig Standard page, there's a list of the drums that were available in the line back then.

It has a list of 'SINGLE HEADED MODELS" that starts with a NO. S-114 - 5 1/2" x 8" - 4 lug tom.

I also see that these are NOT in the 1971 catalog.

I'm curious as to whether anyone has ever seen any of these single headed models in real life - especially the 8" tom.

I can't help but to wonder if a 8" x 5-1/2" Gold Strata single headed tom with matching interior exists. It seems like a real unicorn of a vintage drum - perhaps some of the rarest Stratas of all, in any color.

Boy, I'd love to find one of those Yes Sir

These are from the Standard S-340 kit. They are in the 68 cat but stopped making them by the 71 cat. That's when they switched to the S350c...the double bass kit. That was only made for about a year. I've never seen a 340 kit or a 340 tom. I have spoken to someone who has one. He wasn't willing to part with it. Those are extremely rare, I would imagine.

Thanks McJ - Always appreciate the input. Cool Dude

Rare indeed - like I said
