once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Ugh, was tired AF when I posted this, srry. Doing this from phone and the photos flipped when I uploaded.
Thanks for the feedback, you've all inspired me to retain my youth and play them; not display them.
Cheers
As mentioned those are Ludwig Standards which was a less expensive line Ludwig produced from approx. 1968-1972ish. They were the same 3 ply shells as the regular Ludwigs of the era but used less expensive metal parts and thinner wraps to hold the price down and try to compete with the growing number of imported drums coming in from the far east. Looks like you have 13/16/22 with a matching snare which was the S-320 outfit (although the cataloged set had a metal snare drum). For decades you could buy these sets used for very little money as they were thought of as second tier Ludwigs. In recent years, with the advent of internet forums and the realization that they represented a less expensive way to get the Ludwig "3-ply" sound, they have gone up in value, although for the most part they are still not worth as much as their Super Classic brethren. The unique Strata finishes seem to be the most popular Standards but all the wraps they used were unique to the Standard line and not available on other Ludwigs. The "Mist" sparkles like on your drums used a finer grain of sparkle and were a bit thinner than the standard sparkle wraps. My guess is these would be worth around $800 US in today's market with maybe a range up or down of $200 ($600-$1000). Ten years ago they would have been worth maybe $350-400 and ten years before that you'd have been lucky to get half that amount so they are appreciating with time. There is a Ludwig Standard facebook group that you might want to check into. I have two Standard sets myself (one in Gold Strata and one in Lemon, both 12/14/16/20 with matching snares) so I know what great drums they can be.
The earlier pricing is actually pretty accurate, I bought them for 600$ CAD 12 years ago. Yes, these are 13/14/16/22, and the oddity I see are two holes on the upper quarter of the high tom that suggest a different mount was originally used. That was the opinion of a noticeably interested store worker, perhaps he was also low balling/ devaluing?
Thank you for your help, maybe I'm best off keeping them while I'm still interested in playing.
You must understand , any , I mean any , deviation from factory originality changes value . 600 Canadian mite still be high sorry but it is the way of the vintage drum good luck play em you will be very happy with the sound ....

Interesting that the bass drum has the white paint interior and not the "Granitone" interior that is on almost all the Ludwig Standard Kits.
I know there were a few Standard Series anomalies, like using classic lugs vs. Standard lugs for one. Has anyone ever seen a white painted (Resocoat) or clear interior Standard drum?
Can you post pictures of the interiors of other drums in the kit?

The earliest Standards had the white resocoat interiors. It seems Ludwig shifted to granitone interiors on the Standards at around the same time as they went to the clear interiors on the Classic series drums.
Here are the kick and high tom interiors, I'll get pics of the snare and floor interiors when I re skin. From the looks of it, I'm still not totally sure about the tom mount. Looks different but it would need to be, structurally. Also pictures are the Hole's that may have been original mount. * Apologies if it's flipped *
Oops, here are pics. The bolts on the high tom are consistent, but on the bass drum they're a bit different.
Goddamnit it flips every time, and didn't upload one of the pics. Here is the kick again (hopefully)
Everything looks okay to me in those pictures as far as I can see them. The two holes near the top edge of the tom are for a missing muffler assembly and the two holes in the bass drum are for the cymbal arm bracket. Both are easy fixes if you track down the correct replacements to bolt on.
