1967 Super Classic before pics

Loading...

I just picked these up from the original owner the other night. 1967 Sky Blue Pearl in 13,16,22 with a 67 Supraphonic. All in excellent condition inside and out. 95% rust free and typical yellowing on pearl wrap. A few flaking spots on the BD hoops that I'll re-finish. Mainly just needs a good cleaning and polishing and then some new heads. The set also came with the original Paiste Super 20"crash/ride and 14" hi-hats. For cheaply made cymbals, they actually sound pretty cool! Also came with a couple flat base stands, hi hat stand and some 60's no-name soft bags.

I am in the process of cleaning them up and have all the hardware soaking in Dawn as I type. I needed a break!

I'll post some more pictures as I go. I am missing a 13" steel hoop for the tom so if you have one, PM me if you are interested in selling.

I've got to quit looking at CL!

Clean them up with Novus #3, #2, then #1. They'll come out looking like new. Great score! I have the pre-serial number twin to your kit in my basement. I do have the matching JazzFest, but the kit came with a pre-serial COB Super! Best of both worlds...

Enjoy em, great drums!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

John,

I usually use Zaino products and they work great as well. I will have to try the Novus next time I need to buy more. I just finished all the polishing on shells and they do look great. I can't find one scratch in all the wrap on all 3 drums!

After an all night soak, I'll start the tedious chrome polishing tomorrow.

I'll post some more pictures later.

So, I made some progress this weekend and sanded my hoops ( Got the inlay off intact, WHEW!). I primed and put the first coat of Satin black on with a brush. Next time I think I'll use spray. I also used Meguiars light scratch remover on shells and applied the first of many coats of polish. They really shine already! All hardware is done soaking and drying and I'll start polishing on that in the evenings this week. New heads are ordered and on the way.

I'm still looking for an original 13" hoop for my tom. Anybody have one I can buy?

Cool set, man. Looks like you're well on your way to having a pristine-looking set of Super Classics! I actually like the way this wrap mellows over the years...I'm not so crazy about "new" SBP wrap. Congrats!

BTW...cool Jeep, too! I used to have a 1980 CJ7 lifted up on 35's. I used to go rock crawling and camping all the time back in my 20's...good times!
