1967 Club Date Black Laquer Last viewed: 17 hours ago

I have a few kits and I need gone. Collected more than I really want and have 5 kits that need restoring that will eventually show up here. I may offer a few unrestored so keep your radar on. Only going to keep a few kits that I really, really want. I should really want the one below but oh well, my loss can be your gain :)

Original kit as seen in the '67 catalog with all parts right down to the wood block holder, spring stick holder and key and wrench bags! I just don't want to break it up as it came from the Chicago factory. The only non-original parts are a few of the heads and one of the bass hoops. For the complete restoration thread go here: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=49286

The complete kit has been disassembled, cleaned and polished using non-abrasive detergents, carefully detailed, re-assembled. All dates in each shell are stamped during the month of January, 1967 including the Acrolite. If you want the complete badge photo series to check for yourself, send me an e-mail. The hardware stands, and all chrome is immaculate as is the vinyl on the throne. There is some slight scuffing on the black lacquer factory finish here and there but nothing to detract from the beauty of the kit. Any thing you see in the photos of the paint are not scratches but reflections. All drums are in round. There is some flaking of the paint at one spot near the rear bearing edge of the 20" but is not noticeable with the head on. The large 22" ride is not included with the kit.

Not quite a museum piece, yet could be a central show-piece of someone's vintage Ludwig collection. All the parts including cymbals mentioned in the restoration thread are a part of the deal.

Make me an offer. No trades or crazy low offers accepted. Just sold a 1980 B&O badge Black Beauty here a few days ago, and the 16" Blue Sparkle FT, so you know I'm not holding on so tight I squeak. If you want to search my on-line ratings for other sales just ask.

Best to contact me at: chaplainkjs@gmail.com

$1200.US includes shipping, several boxes everything all nicely bubble-wrapped.

Cheers and happy collecting to all!

I honestly don't know what its worth, that's the reason I'm asking for offers.

Maybe a few of you could give opinions on price to help me out.

Thanks,

kelly

Agree with above. It's a cool complete kit, but a nice red sparkle club date with stands and matching snare plus some cymbals just sold for only $800 with a single bid. Awesome drums, though, and I might even be interested.

Got $700 out my black lacquer '65 last month on eBay for the three drums alone. With the fee's I lost on that one.

It's a buyers market. Hold on to those for a later sale when conditions are more favorable. Or... let it go for under a grand. If you have other stuff you need to sell of lesser quality, go with that first. Hold the good stuff for a better market. It's all cyclical, things will swing the other way in time.

I learned on a black lacquer Ludwig kit, I have a real soft spot in my heart for them. Best of luck with the sale.

Too many great drums to list here!

Really appreciate everyone's input. I've been out of the market for almost four years. Even then I wasn't seriously into it except for snares and some nice kits. Not into this to make money. I enjoy the drums more than anything and love the restoration process, then playing the stuff I restore...breaking even is fine too.

There is quite a bit of attempted gouging out there and it affects how we all think. Some less scrupulous folks maybe trying to push the price or hope to find a "sucker". Check this out... http://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=584311628

Can you guys tell me what's going on here? Looks like gouging to me..

I like what John said about hanging on to them for a better market. Do y'all think that's coming? I would be willing to do that but need to move these, so setting the price at $1200.US (shipping included) or should I say a "Grand" plus shipping costs.

What's that old adage?... "They're worth what someone will pay," or is it "they're only worth what someone will sell them for."
