1966 Rogers Buddy Rich Headliner

Spent a few hours with my buddy Idrum4fun talking drums and such. He also was kind enough to let me convince him to set this up and take some photos:

I hope everybody is wearing a bib when they see that photo... they're going to drool on their keyboard! Beautiful set of drums in excellent condition. If they sound even half as good as they look, it's a dream kit for any drummer.

Too many great drums to list here!

Thanks for the compliment John, I wish it were mine. Idrum4fun is meticulous to say the least, his attention to detail is astounding, as is his knowledge. It is truly a stunning kit up close too.

For the record, the ride cymbal, crash and hi-hat cymbals are mine. The crash above the hats is now his. From left to right cymbal wise. Sabian HH 18" crash, Sabian HH 20" Ride, 16" Zildjian Armand Medium-Thin and icing on the cake, Zildjian 14" EAK hi-hats. Oh almost forgot, he didn't bring his matching snare, which is also a stunner, so we had to "settle" to use my oval badge Dynasonic as a sit-in.

The kit is a beauty for sure.....

I thought it was a nice touch to set the cymbals up 'Buddy-style'... flat out.

That was Idrum4fun's idea, but when it came to picture taking, I had to raise the floor tom crash to get that "symmetrical" look.

One more......

I'd like to comment but, after viewing that pic, I'm speechless!

One more from the other side, gives you a nice look at the hardware and the Dyna.

Hey everybody! Thanks for the kind comments on my Headliner kit! Had a great time with Backbeatkeeper (Gary) setting these up. I had originally taken them over only to show them to him. My matching Tower/Powertone snare drum was left at home. I also have period correct COB Powertone and 4 digit COB 7-line Dynasonic to go with it! I'll be posting the matching snare drum later and will explain why it's a Tower/Powertone.

I'm really proud of how well this kit came out. It's basically been sitting in boxes for months now. I really got on the ball with cleaning it during the last two weeks, as I'll be playing this kit for my parent's 60th wedding anniversary next Sunday!

Also, a big "thankyou" to Gary for supplying me with a Rogers NOS 16" coated batter for use on the reso side of my floor tom. Both my 12" and 16" toms now have official Rogers heads! The bass drum reso head is a smooth white Remo, which was easy to remove the logo with Acetone. The Rogers logo was purchased from Bentley's drum shop. The best Rogers logo I've found! While not currently on the batter side, I will be installing a NOS Rogers coated head by the party!

Gary, a big "thanks" for convincing me to set them up and take pictures!

Anytime Mark, I'm just jealous that I didn't get to sit behind them and tap a bit!! Next time I suggest we do it when the sun isn't glaring in your eyes!!

See you soon.
