Awesome! I talked to the guy yesterday and he wanted me to come check it out but unfortunately I couldn't make it.

I am meeting him today to check out the snare and case!

If all looks well, it will be mine...oh yes...it will be mine...

Oh yes nice,....

Stamped on my father's 30th birthday, exactly 2 weeks before I came into this world,...

How I would like to owe this one,...

I have a 1967 mint condition,...

If you ever consider a trade, just let me know.

here's an April 11th 1966 on Ebay right now. BIN $139. Seems very reasonable and I'd buy it myself but I already have a mint '66

Got more than i expected too.

1966 Acrolite Snare

WFL Snare Stand

Case

Drum key

and

Practice Pad

....all for $125. im happy with the purchase. i took pictures of everything.

the guy didn't know too much about it and to be honest neither do i. i am learning as i go. It looks to have the original batter and resonant heads on it. original bat muffler and original snare wires looks like too.

check it out. made an album on photobucket.

and please let me know if you can help me identify the pros and cons of this snare.

very neat stuff. you did well! the key and the case appear to be a vintage non ludwig brand from what i can see. very cool!

Awesome! i have noticed a few dings and scratches i didnt see at first. there is one dent on the shell unfortunately. not too major or noticeable though. also, i think the top rim may not be a "perfect" circle anymore. looks to be a little oblong. im guessing this thing has been dropped once or twice in this last 46 years. but it still sounds phenomenal and i can't wait to throw some new heads and snare wires on.

and suggestions on fixing the rim? leave it be? how about the dent?

You can always replace the rim on it with a period correct ludwig style rim. Unless the dent us major, i wouldn't worry about it much. You got a good deal!

You could probably gently tap the dent out, but I would leave it, it adds character.

i am going to see if i can shape the rim back a little bit myself. maybe put it in a vice.

and not going to worry about the dent. its barely even noticeable.

plans....replace both heads [not sure what to put on just yet] and

replace snare wires with puresound wires. Also, i think i am going to just go ahead and buy this snare an skb case. I will be playing shows with it regularly. The case it came with will get destroyed within a month of loading and unloading it into our trailer.
