1966 Ludwig 9X13 Tom in Black Oyster Pearl

Loading...

-the pictures have to say it all. I can tell you there is noticeable wear and use on this drum with considerable dings, scratches, scuffs and a solid case of snare rash. While the baseball bat outer bat knob is included, the inner muffler was not with the drum when I rescued it. A dumpster save from a school that is closing to be torn down-can you believe this was destined for the trash???

The tom mount casting was under major disintegration and I replaced it with an identical period correct 60s Ludwig mount. The chromes are pitted, but maybe not excessive for a 50 year old used drum. As not to mess with the true vintage-ness of the drum, I only lightly polished the chromes with Noxon 7 and used Novus 1, once around, for the wrap as I’m sure the proud purchaser of this drum will want to give it his/her own level of detailing. I put generic white painted heads on simply to dress up the drum for sale and to keep the cost down.

More Pics

There are 2 holes in the wrap. Looks like something was mounted to the drum more than abuse. Not sure. There are also some mod to one of the lugs using a different set of lug screws.
