1966 Gretsch 6.5x14

This is a shell I got on here from Gerald Sterkin.

After cleaning it up, filling a few holes and re-wrapping with some Tangerine Glass Glitter it looks great.

I wrapped this snare, a 20x14 bass and a 12x8 tom to match an og 14x14 floortom that I found.

Love this snare. :D

I used the lugs, hoops and throw/butt from a damaged drum that I got from a friend.

I still have the other shell I'm just trying to figure out what to do with it. :D

I agree that you did a fantastic job. That shell sat in a pile of parts in the corner for almost 25 years. You indeed saved a vintage drum.

Thanks guys.

Posting this pic got me thinking about the shell the hardware came from.

Now I'm trying to straighten it out. :D

Excellent job! I'm not usually too fond of Gretsch snares, but I got a late 50's 3-ply fairly recently that just kills, so I'm kind of a recent convert to Gretsch snares. Yours is a beauty. Love the tangerine wrap. I have to do an entire kit in that wrap some day. It's on my list.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Looks like a 5 1/2 x 14". Wouldn't a 6.5" have 16 lugs?

You are correct.

If the mods would edit that would be cool.
