Hello.
I recently purchased this snare:

At first I could not believe how good is the drum hardware and overall appearance of it. I thought it may had been restored but, taking apart some lugs revealed "first time marks" on the wood that I could not believe. The hoops are surely COB and also have a great shine. A minor wear is noticed only on some lugs.
Can you guys pinpoint the exact model that is? I read about it and thought it could be a student model, but the 1965 Slingerland catalog does not show any student models sporting "stick saver" hoops.
I really would like to dig into further info about this snare. Since I play in a 50/60's style band and am trying to add a more vintage sound, more info on this snare would really spicy things up, with the help from you.
I am also interested in opinions about if was it restored or not. Everything on it looks very new, even better than my Pearl's snare which I restored a year ago! This snare must have had some time on a desert to be so rust-free...LOL...
Oh, one more important thing: the serial number. #83590...mmmm...it surely is from the era stamped inside ('65)...the weird thing is that googling it, I could find ANOTHER model sporting the same serial number (the snare was totally lousy if compared, and was sold on the same WEEK I bought mine, in a different state)...is that common??? I mean, two snares with the same serial number?
Thanks a lot.
Jeffo.
