Hi folks! I didn’t think the day would come, but it looks like it’s finally time to let this kit go to a new home. I need to fund another purchase to get a different Rogers kit! Here’s the lowdown:
1965, born together, silver sparkle Top Hat kit. 12/12/16/20, no extra holes in any shell at all. All original screws, washers, t-rods, claws, and everything. The washers at one point were replaced under the top tom mount, but that’s it.
These drums came from Denny Phillips, who worked at Rogers HQ when it was located in Cleveland, where him and I still reside. I bought these drums from him 6 years ago, and I’ve loved them every minute I’ve owned them. Denny had these drums for years, I believe since they were new. He toured with these drums for years, and he’s told me stories about playing in clubs in Japan with this set. There’s quite a storied past with this set, and other than touring, it’s spent it’s life here at it’s home in Cleveland, OH. I’ve also gigged with this kit for over two years, and recorded with it with my band’s first album last year.
That being said, all the drums are in really nice shape. There’s a bit of snare rash on the left rack tom, the paint is chipping off the bass drum hoops, and the inlay has fallen off one hoop. The bass drum was also played with the front head off for a while, so the inside is dirty, and there’s a bit of black paint overspray in the reso side interior. All of this is cosmetic: the bearing edges are original and everything functions beautifully. The rest of the drums are in excellent condition. Absolutely clean interiors, close numbered tags, and wonderful chrome.
I’m also including a 5x14 3-ply silver sparkle Powertone in this sale. Permatension Clockface throw with beavertail lugs. This snare is in absolutely wonderful condition.
I’m asking $1900 for the whole lot. I’m willing to negotiate, but these drums are very special to me, so please don’t lowball. Shipping is $200 thru Po's Percussion in Columbus, OH.
I will also accept $1600 plus shipping for the kit without the snare drum.
Please reach out to ask any questions you may have. Pictures never work well on here with me, so I have the whole collection available in the imgur link below. Thank you for looking!
