1965 Rogers Jazz in WMP

Loading...

Did a gig this past Saturday at the Hartford Convention Center for the Wadsworth Antheneum, and played with TWO different bands on the same stage! Made for a nice gig/payday too! I grabbed a quick pic right after sound check. Because it was a jazz quartet and then a 6 piece group after, I played my '65 Rogers "little" Jazz kit which covered the gig well, especially the low end/bottom as there was a nice sound system. So the 14X18 bass drum sounded like a 22"! Otherwise the sizes are:

14X18

8X10

14X14

5X14 wood Dynasonic

All correct hardware

I also have the 8X12 tom that came with the set, but opt to play an 80's era Rogers XP8 that was an orphan. Restored/re-wrapped to match. The 10" tom gives a nice "spread" tonally between it and the 14x14 floor tom. Hope you ENJOY!

Very very very nice Tommy. That 8x10 threw me for a minute until I read the description. Sounds like a great gig and payday too! That worked out well. :)

That is a very nice looking kit there. I first thought it was 12,20 until I read the description. These Rogers 18" bass drums sound great!

THANK YOU everyone for your nice comments! I want to add:

Glenn: Yeah... the 8X10 would be a Rogers anomaly for this era kit for sure! I do have the original 8X12 too though! I just like the "spread" between the 10" and the 14" more then the 12"... for now anyway!

randy73: So true!, the 14x18 is almost ALWAYS mistaken for a 14X20, and especially so in pics. The fact that the rack tom is an 8X10 might have something to do with the illusion/deception. If I had the 8X12 in place the bass drum would probably LOOK like a 14x18!
