daveworshipmusic! THANK YOU for the very nice words! I will say that yes indeed, the Sinatra catalog has some depth!, thus we did some "cherry pickin" with regard to material, so it's not a boring show by any means. In addition though, we also throw in some Bobby Darin, Michael Buble, and Louis Armstrong, all of which John sounds very much like as he is like a chameleon vocally! This year .. 2016 .. we will add in a couple Tony Bennett gems!, in addition to a couple NEW Sinatra arrangements, so the show doesn't get stale , and especially so for all the folks that come out to see it multiple times. THANKS again for the comments!
mchair303/Mike! It would have been nice to see you Mike!, but hey... 'tis the season to be jammed with just everything! Next time?! Regarding the pics: You would think that it would be easy what with the beauty of the venue! .. but .. in reality, it's very difficult to get good shots! Here's why: Aesthetically speaking, YES!, the stage with the backdrop/twinkling stars is BEAUTIFUL!, but the lighting is not! I take all these drum pics after sound check so everyone is off the stage, but then the problem is the "mood lighting" that is put on. It's usually colored/tinted towards magenta which makes it very difficult to get definition in the pics. I have to play a lot with angles and contrast to "defeat" the mood lighting. But, I have enough little tricks to get around it, but not all the time! I got some beauties from the front that I can't use, for the very reason just mentioned. All these are taken with NO FLASH, as that just makes it worse... you lose definition. It's worth it though, as so many of these venues are just beautiful! Regarding do I have a 14X20 and/or a 14X22 bass drum:
I do have a 14X20, but no longer have the 14X22. I did at one time, but sold it as I figured I could cover it all with the 14X20 and the 14X24. Then, I found the little jazz/bop set with the 14X18, which is so close to the 14X20 in sound!.. ( which makes little sense, but it is! ) .. that I haven't played the 14x20 in years. The WMP on the 14X20 has also yellowed BIG due to the fact that I played that set outdoors for years, not knowing then what I know now, which is what UV does to WMP! The 14X20 is actually part of a complete set. Those are 1966 Buddy Rich Headliners, and I will say that they have ALL yellowed at pretty much the same rate .. so .. they could certainly be played together with good match. That set is: 14X20 ... 8X12 ... 14X14 ... and a Tower/8 lug snare! THANKS for the comments Mike!, and sorry we missed!
