That is a very beautiful drum!

The drum kit that this snare is used with is also amazing.

Link to drum kit:

Also, I have included a link to where you can

listen to the drum kit and download it free

for use in audio productions.

Link: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=147296

Plus, the package comes complete with

plenty of photos and detailed information

about the drum kit.

I spent several months sampling the vintage

Ludwig drum kit for use in audio samplers.

They can be downloaded and used in

any audio production royalty free.

There is more information at the link. :)

The vintage hardware was replaced with modern Ludwig hardware(I did keep the original hardware). No additional holes were drilled into the shell. The shell was not tampered with. However, The ResoCoat was replaced with clear satin polyurethane. (It was done professionally. It looks factory made from Ludwig).I have found that removing the ResoCoat (and/or laquer) and replacingit with polyurethane, brings out a wonderful natural tone from the drum.Plus, it also helps to protect the shell for many years....... The sound drums amazing.

Excellent discovery, To me you've dramatically increased the value of the snare drum...

Anything that improves the sound and performance without drilling or drastic mods to the shell is an improvement to all but collectors..

I had my 1960s Oaklawn era 6ply Aristocrats done in Silver Glass as well as the interiors and it actually increased the projection and resonance and will no doubt preserve the shells for generations..
