Very thorough description of a nice kit.IMO,it would be sold already if the toms were 12x8 and 14x14,so you cant really call it a jazz kit.The purists will point that out im sure.Slings unfortunately never rose to the top with Gretsch,and Ludwig but they were very well built drums none the less.Maybe if Ringo had played them,who knows eh?....Your price is "fair" but if you get offered 800 cash...grab it and good luck.

I beg to differ. Slingerland was at the top throughout the

20s up to the 40s.. And even during the 50s they were still

a player. Throughout the 60s and 70s Slingerland was still

doing healthily and was part of the big four. They declined

during the later half of the 70s and didn't survive through

the 80s..

I think its difficult to pin point a time when Slingerland lost the momentum.Its like saying when did Ford start losing ground?Some still say they never have...anyway,i was a very active drummer from the 60,s -80,s and was never reminded how great they were,nor did i see a lot of them when i travelled "all over the place"I do remember a lot of drummers switching over to vistalites,Fibes was coming on strong,but Ludwig always was front and center,at least in my circuit.Like i said,they made great drums but a rock drummer from that era would of helped a lot as an endorser.Buddy and Gene had a different following...Watch some reruns of the Sullivan show.
