1961 Gretsch Round Badge

More here: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=33230

20", 16", 13" Silver Glass Glitter, no paper tags.

Snare is 1961 model 4160.

I finally got me the Aquarian Vintage heads and they fit like a glove.

Not everybody is a fan but I like them.

I know the "old style Gretsch" logo on the BD head is not period correct but it's so classy,... I couldn't resist.

Very smooth sounding set,...

Hope you like it.

Mighty fine looking drums ;)

I never seem to get my drums as clean as yours...

Maybe i do have to pay you a visit some day :p

I could use some tips on a royal star kit that needs some TLC...

NICE kit! Love the logo!

I'm with you on the Aquarian Vintage heads. I have a set of the American Vintage heads on my late 50s Slingerland kit and they sound great. I put a set of the Modern Vintage heads - which yours appears to be, judging by the diamond logo - on a DW kit I had a couple years ago and they sounded great.

Again, AWESOME kit!

Excellent! And, as always, the flooring and background are just too cool!

Thanks Folks,

I probably would have never found the funds to get my hands on this set.

Over here, Gretsch drums are scarse and very often go for top €.

As mentioned before, it came in my possession by trading a Ludwig set. I wasn't to impressed with the '66 Super Classic and the other guy didn't really dig this Gretsch.

Odd as to my ears, this Gretsch sounds a million times better,... I guess taste and sound are subjective.

The BD heads are indeed the Modern Vintage ones.

The toms have still the Vintage A's on them but I'll definitely try the Aquarians on them.

Those big Pearl rubber feet do look ugly but boy do they make a difference.

The entire set is tuned up high and although the sizes are bigger than a Bop Kit, it's remarkably easy it is to get that typical Jazzy Gretsch sound everybody loves,...
