1960's Zildjian

I purchased a 1960's Gretsch kit that came with Zildjian cymbals. It has a 22" ride, 18" crash(ride perhaps) and 14" high hats. The kit has everything directly from the Gretsch catalog and I'm thinking that the cymbals were purchased together with the kit. The Zildjian cymbals listed in the catalog are listed as Zildjian K (Dance) cymbals. Is it possible to tell from the stamp if these are K's?

I'm blown away by these cymbals by the way! Especially the high hats. They are light weight and have so much character!

the stamps should indicate what they are. if they are a's, they would read avedis zildjian. if they are old k's they will read Istanbul as well.

Gretsch also sold their own "house brand" which is Ajaha. They are Italian in origin.

If they don't have pressed in stamps saying A Zildjian or K Zildjian then they might be Ajaha.

Can you tell if they are A or K from this logo? The Gretsch catalogs from the 1960's do not offer A's.

The name Avedis on the cymbal is where the "A" in A Zildjian comes from.

Those are As.

with most likely a later 1950s stamp on them based on the two photos you show. But that's out of context so it's hard to be sure. More pics of the cymbals (overall top, overall bottom, profile) would allow us to tell you more. And the weights in grams...
