***SOLD -- SOLD***
Hello all,
I'm looking to sell my 1960s Slingerlands. I'm more of a keyboardist, and haven't played drums in years, so I think it's time for someone else to enjoy them.
It's a 22" Bass, 14" Floor Tom, and 13" Rack Tom. The original snare is 8" deep! They originally had a white wrap with gold sparkles. They are thin maple shells and sound great. No structural issues, cracks, etc.
I also have a vintage COA Slingerland snare to go with it. It has a Falams head with an active snare system on it. Actually sounds really good. The drum was wrapped in white. Yes, someone wrapped a steel shell. Unusual, but it works and sounds great with this kit. There's more info on it in this thread: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=44544
However, at some time before I bought them, the wrap must have deteriorated on all but the snare drum. So, someone decided to paint them white and put in gold flake to match the snare. So, they're not perfect from a cosmetic standpoint, but from a distance they're quite acceptable, and sound just as good as they should.
Before I stopped playing, I changed the batter heads on the toms to White coated Remos. The 8" has a Remo powerstroke if I remember right. None of them have many miles on at all.
Hardware wise, everything is there as far as the tom legs, hardware on the bass drum for the 13" tom, etc.
I live in New Ringgold, PA 17960. I was hoping to get $400 for the set. Let me know what you guys think. If you want, I can also throw in a Ludwig Speedking that's been cleaned up and lubricated. Works great.
I'm only selling because I'm not using them and I'm trying to raise money for a Hammond organ. It's late right now, but I will get pictures up in the morning after I've set them up.
Any questions, feel free to shoot me a message! I also have a 70s Tama Imperialstar set with several concert toms, as well as several vintage 60s-70s Zildjian and Paiste 2002 cymbals I will be listing for sale so keep an eye out.
Thanks,
Jon
